Andy Morgan

Andy Morgan’s contribution to The Aurelian Order is grounded in more than twenty-five years of senior responsibility within defence, aerospace, and advanced technology environments where public accountability, financial discipline, and long-horizon capability must be held in balance.

His career spans executive and board-level finance and commercial leadership roles across major international defence and aerospace organisations, including Airbus Group, BAE Systems, and Cobham. Throughout this period, Andy operated at the interface between government and industry, supporting complex programmes where institutional credibility, regulatory compliance, and delivery discipline were critical.

Andy joined EADS (now Airbus Group) in 2003 as Chief Financial Officer of EADS Operations & Services UK, working on UK PFI programmes including the Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft (FSTA). In 2008, he was appointed CFO and Head of Corporate Operations for Airbus Group UK, with broader responsibility for strategic engagement with UK government departments, including the Ministry of Defence. His remit encompassed financial stewardship, organisational governance, and the management of sensitive public-sector relationships.

Alongside his executive roles, Andy worked with the Welsh Government to establish a joint research foundation (Endeavr) and represented Airbus Group on multiple industry bodies, including the ADS Security Board and the ADS Council. He also served as a trustee of a pension scheme established for former Ministry of Defence personnel, reflecting sustained involvement in fiduciary and governance responsibilities.

Andy has a long-standing focus on uncrewed and autonomous systems. His experience includes major UAS programmes within Airbus and Cobham, as well as more recent executive responsibility as Chief Executive Officer of Astigan, an Ordnance Survey venture. He is currently Chief Executive Officer of Controlled Descent Company Ltd, leading UAS programmes developing solutions in support of humanitarian aid and operational resilience.

In parallel, Andy serves as a director of Microlink Devices, a UK-based aerospace solar cell manufacturer, and acts as a board member or advisor to several technology-focused small and medium enterprises. His work has involved operating across the Middle East, Far East, and India, within regulatory and cultural environments requiring restraint and institutional sensitivity.

Andy holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Information Systems Management and is a CIMA-qualified accountant. Within The Aurelian Order, he serves in a custodial capacity where matters involve defence capability, aerospace systems, autonomous technologies, and government-industry interfaces. His role is to help ensure that collective examination remains grounded in institutional reality, financial integrity, and the long-term consequences of capability decisions.
